Journals

I’ve been having my students write in a journal to a prompt once a night. I recently brought them home to read and review. Some of their comments were really hilarious! One prompt said, “What makes you sad?” The student answered something like this: “I’m sad when I have to sit and do my homework, like writing in my journal, while the rest of my family is watching a movie. IT’S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!” They also said things like you should have good manners so that you can get a date and not have to live with your parents for the rest of your life. Seriously, I laughed several times when reading through the journals.
